DESCRIPTION: Machu Picchu is the biggest tourist attraction in Peru and South America, one of the seven wonders of the modern world, and a must-see destination for many tourists visiting Peru. So, let yourself be swept away by the charm of Machu Picchu and take an elegant journey on one of Peru’s most luxurious trains: the Belmond Hiram Bingham. A luxury train that runs from Cusco to Machu Picchu, crossing the Sacred Valley with a brief stop in Ollantaytambo. Your trip includes an open-air carriage, live classical music, appetizers, drinks, cocktails, lunch, and a gourmet dinner. Guided tour of Machu Picchu in the afternoon, when it’s less crowded.
Important: We have departures from Cusco on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays, Saturdays, and Sundays. On Fridays and Mondays, the Hiram Bingham Luxury Train does not operate.
After enjoying breakfast at your hotel in Cusco, embark on a 1-Day Luxury Train Trip to Machu Picchu.
Our staff will pick you up from your hotel in Cusco at 8:00 a.m. You will then be transferred by tourist minivan to the Luxury Train Station in Poroy or Río Sagrado. Before boarding your train, you will be greeted by a typical Cusco dance and then board the Luxury Hiram Bingham Train escorted by a professional tour guide on board.
As you travel, from the exclusive observatory or the open-air carriage, enjoy the incomparable landscapes of colorful villages, cultivated pampas, the Urubamba River Valley, and the Andes Mountains. Enjoy live classical music while sipping Peruvian snacks and cocktails, especially Pisco Sour. In the dining car, enjoy gourmet Peruvian cuisine featuring Andean ingredients.
Upon arrival at the town of Machu Picchu (better known as Aguas Calientes) at 12:24 a.m., accompanied by your tour guide, board a 25-minute charter bus (exclusive bus for those traveling on the luxury train) to the Inca citadel of Machu Picchu. After passing the checkpoint, head to the lookout point (the watchman’s house), from where you can enjoy breathtaking panoramic views of Machu Picchu in perfect harmony with nature. Take excellent photographs to immortalize your experience, and then tour the highlights of the urban area.
After exploring Machu Picchu, at 3:40 PM, enjoy a cup of tea and delicious appetizers and desserts at the Belmond Sanctuary Lodge’s luxurious Tinkuy restaurant while using the Wi-Fi. Then, at 4:00 PM, board the bus for the descent to Aguas Calientes, and at 5:50 PM, begin your return trip on the luxury Hiram Bingham train from Aguas Calientes to the Poroy or Río Sagrado train station. Upon arrival (9:15 PM), you will be met and escorted by our staff on your return trip by tourist minibus to Cusco City and your hotel. Arrival in Cusco at approximately 10:20 PM.
Note: PeruRail restricts all departure frequencies from Poroy Station every year during the rainy season, including the Belmond Hiram Bingham luxury train, for safety and maintenance reasons. From January 2 to April 30, the bimodal service, combining bus and train, operates. Private buses will depart from the Wanchaq Cusco station at 7:20 a.m. The luxury train will depart from the Río Sagrado hotel at 9:40 a.m. and arrive in Aguas Calientes at 12:24 p.m.
