Itinerary Machu Picchu & Classic Cusco – 4 Days

Arrival in Cusco and City Tour

Upon arrival at the Cusco airport (in the morning hours), one of our hosts will greet you and assist with your transfer and check-in at the hotel.

In the afternoon (1:00 p.m.), embark on a unique and exciting 6-hour guided tour to discover the most iconic sites in and around the Imperial City.

Begin by exploring the Main Square, where you’ll admire colonial buildings constructed atop ancient Inca palace walls. Then, visit the interior of the Cusco Cathedral, a masterpiece of colonial art, richly adorned with religious artwork.

Continue walking along original Inca streets until you reach the Temple of the Sun (Qoricancha) and observe the impressive fusion of Andean and European cultures.

Next, leave the city to visit the archaeological park of Sacsayhuaman, Qenqo, Pukapukara, and Tambomachay, where you’ll marvel at the mysterious cyclopean walls with finely crafted polygonal stones.

Finally, return to your hotel.

Day 2:

Sacred Valley Tour – Journey to Machu Picchu

On this 4-Day Cusco & Machu Picchu Tour, discover the very best of the Sacred Valley of the Incas.

After breakfast at your hotel, begin an epic journey to the Sacred Valley with a brief stop at a women-run native textile center, where you’ll learn how traditional Andean weavings are made using the wool of llamas, alpacas, huanacos, and vicuñas.

Next, visit the archaeological site and local market of Pisac. Admire the vast agricultural terraces built into the mountainside and stroll through the colorful market full of local crafts and produce.

At midday, enjoy a delicious buffet lunch in Urubamba, prepared with native Andean ingredients. Then, continue on to explore the archaeological site of Ollantaytambo, an impressive example of Inca urban planning and architecture.

In the afternoon, at either 4:36 p.m. or 7:04 p.m., board your train at the Ollantaytambo station and cross the eastern Andes through a deep and scenic valley until you reach Machu Picchu Pueblo (Aguas Calientes). Upon arrival, our host will be waiting to escort you to your hotel.

Day 3: Machu Picchu Tour – Return to Cusco

Rediscover the Lost City of the Incas: Machu Picchu.

After breakfast at the hotel, join your professional local guide and take the shuttle bus (25 minutes) up to Machu Picchu, the Wonder of the World.

After passing the checkpoint, head to the Guardhouse viewpoint, where you’ll enjoy breathtaking panoramic views of Machu Picchu nestled within a scenic canyon, surrounded by steep mountains blanketed in dense cloud forest. Then, explore the urban sector of the citadel, visiting highlights such as the Temple of the Sun, the Royal Residence, the astronomical observatory, plazas, and more.

After your guided tour, bid farewell to this mystical stone city, then take the bus back down to Aguas Calientes, where you’ll have lunch on your own.

Later in the afternoon (at 2:55 p.m., 3:20 p.m., or 6:20 p.m.), board your train back to Ollantaytambo. Upon arrival, a member of our team will greet you and transfer you by tourist minivan back to Cusco.

Important: If you have reserved entry to Huayna Picchu or Machu Picchu Mountain, you may hike it on your own after the guided tour.

Day 4: Flight Cusco – Lima – Return Home

Enjoy breakfast at your hotel, and 2 hours and 20 minutes before your flight departure, our staff will pick you up and accompany you to the Cusco airport.

If your flight is scheduled for the afternoon, feel free to use your free time to explore more of Cusco or do some last-minute souvenir shopping.
