South Valley Tour – Half Day
To begin the South Valley Tour, we will pick you up from your hotel in Cusco at 8:45 a.m. Then, we will head south toward the beautiful valley.
Our first stop will be the impressive archaeological site of Tipón, where you’ll admire its vast agricultural terraces and the sophisticated Inca irrigation system, still in use today. We’ll also visit a ceremonial temple dedicated to water—an element considered sacred by the Incas.
Next, we’ll continue to Pikillacta, an extensive pre-Inca urban center built by the Wari culture. This site stands out for its remarkable urban planning and architectural layout, making it one of the most important administrative and religious centers of its time.
We will then visit the Church of San Pedro de Andahuaylillas, famously known as the “Sistine Chapel of the Americas.” Built in the 17th century, its modest façade contrasts with a richly decorated interior featuring baroque art, golden altarpieces, and stunning murals and paintings from the Cusco School.
Finally, we will return to Cusco, arriving around 2:00 p.m.
