Itinerary Short Inca Trail 2 Days

Day 1: Cusco – Ollantaytambo – Inca Trail – Machu Picchu (Aguas Calientes)

Begin your rewarding adventure on the all-inclusive 2-Day Short Inca Trail to Machu Picchu

We will pick you up from your hotel in Cusco at 3:45 a.m., or at a pre-arranged time, and transfer you by tourist van to the Ollantaytambo train station. Board your train and embark on an epic journey to Km 104, the official checkpoint for the Short Inca Trail.

After passing the checkpoint, you’ll be guided by a professional, licensed trekking guide. Start your adventure by visiting the mysterious archaeological site of Chachabamba, then follow an ascending stone trail until you reach Wiñaywayna, a breathtaking archaeological complex strategically located with panoramic views. Here, take a short break to enjoy your lunch.

Continue your hike through the lush cloud forest, surrounded by abundant biodiversity (flora and fauna), until you reach the highest point of the Short Inca Trail — the Sun Gate (Inti Punku) at 2,720 meters / 8,922 feet.

From the Sun Gate, take in the stunning panoramic views of Machu Picchu, perfectly blending with the surrounding landscape. Then, descend to the Guardian’s House (Classic Viewpoint) for your iconic postcard-perfect photos of the citadel.

After your photo session, board the bus to Aguas Calientes. At 6:30 p.m., enjoy a delicious dinner at one of the town’s top restaurants with your guide, and spend the night in a comfortable hotel in Machu Picchu Pueblo.
